FASTRACK RIDERS UPDATE

Fastrack Riders had an excellent event this past weekend at

California Speedway on the AMA Track. While warm, the

temperatures never exceeded the mid nineties and staying in

the garages kept everyone comfortable.

Fastrack’s next event is at Willow Springs International

Raceway on the 2.5 mile nine turn Road Course. That event

is on Saturday, August 25th. It is $145 per rider per day

and the Novice Rider School is only $100. Yes, it will be

hot but bring an E Z Up to keep out of the sun and the newly

upgraded Willow Restaurant is always cool and open all day.

The AMB Timing and Scoring System worked great and all lap

times are now posted on the website at

www.fastrackriders.com. Just click on the “Event Lap Times”

button in the lower right hand corner to see all of your

times for the weekend!

Speaking of the AMB System someone left with Fastrack

transponder number 136. All of the transponders are

registered with AMB and have their own unique internal

serial number they flash when crossing the starting line.

If you are the person that accidentally left with this

transponder please call Dana @ 877-560-2233 to return and no

questions will be asked. We will pass along to this missing

serial number to WSMC, WERA West, and CCS all of whom also

use the AMB system. If this serial number of the missing

unit shows up, they will pull you off the track, take the

transponder, send you home, and we will proceed with

criminal charges. Yes, our staff made an error in not

signing out the unit as they should have but if you are the

person in possession of this transponder then all you are

doing is making it more difficult to run the system and have

transponders for all other riders.

At all future California Speedway events we will be

broadcasting on FM 103.7 all announcements. It is much

easier to hear announcements in the garages than the PA

system so be sure to bring an FM radio with you to all

California Speedway events.

Yes, registration and tech moved over to the Timing &

Scoring area. Tech is directly across from the Sunoco fuel

pumps and Registration is up in the Timing & Scoring Suite.

Maps are handed out at the gate and there is plenty of

signage directing you to the area. All of this is on the

West side of Garage Three which is the first garage you pass

when you come into the pits.

On Labor Day California Speedway, Sunday September 2nd, will

be staging the Sharp Aquos 500 NASCAR Night Race. Go to our

website to purchase a special ticket package. Only $75

which includes a pit pass! I now have a greater

appreciation for the NASCAR drivers after doing the Drive

Tech Drivers Experience a couple of months ago. Driving an

almost 4,000 lb. car around that oval is intimidating. No

brake markers, going into the corners without lifting,

limited visibility, all the noise, all the dust, and just a

little shimmy in the steering wheel and all this while only

doing a top speed of 148 mph. I cannot imagine what it is

like running at speeds up to 190 mph. To tell the truth I’d

rather go into the turn one chicane on the AMA Track at 170

mph than take a stock car into turn one banking at that

speed.

Anyway, go to our website www.fastrackriders.com and click

on the California Speedway button to take advantage of this

great deal!

To register for any event you can go to

www.fastrackriders.com or you can call 877-560-2233

Thank you for your support-

ELLISON AND CORONA EXTRA HONDA CBR1000RR SUPERBIKE TAKES TENTH AT SWELTERING VIR

James Ellison and his Corona Extra Honda CBR1000RR SuperBike rider put in a spirited ride to post tenth place in the first SuperBike race held at the picturesque but sweltering Virginia International Raceway.

Getting to grips with the tight and twisty VIR track took some time for James. This challenge, when combined with the search for grip made for a difficult practice and qualifying. The problem, attributed to the extremely hot conditions (over 105 degree F at times), was a very greasy surface. The crew tried a number of suspension settings which slowly got Ellison up to speed in only his second time at the track, the last being 2003. Ultimately James qualified thirteenth.

The first race held on Saturday and 100+ temperatures saw Ellison in eleventh after the first lap, a position he held for eight laps. As he got comfortable on the bike and his tires came on he was able to pass Holden for tenth but was then nearly eight seconds down on the pair of Jake Zemke on the factory Honda and Tommy Hayden on the factory Suzuki. Amazingly, with an incredibly spirited ride, James made up the time and caught the pair three laps from the end. He tried everything to pass but the tight track and traffic prevented him from taking any more slots by the finish so he had to settle for tenth. Without a doubt James ride was the talk of the race! He said; I took a while getting going but then everything seemed to come together. The bike felt really good. I could See Tommy (Hayden) so just put my head down and rode as hard as I could. When I caught them I thought it would not be difficult to pass but there's very little room on the track and the traffic made it even harder. Still I tried!

The second race looked to be a humdinger for James with him and the crew finding another half second over his best race time in the morning practice. Come the start he could not find any rear grip and after a number of near high-sides and off-track excursions came in on lap two for a new rear tire. Unfortunately he was deemed to have exceeded the pit lane speed limit on the way in and was black flagged for a ride through penalty. A lap later he came in and retired citing aggravation of his 2005 injury to his left arm from the high-side incidents. The weekend leaves Ellison down one spot at eleventh in the SuperBike championship series.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lexington, OH August 5, 2007

CORONA EXTRA HONDA IN THE MIX WITH TENTH AND ELELVENTH FINISHES AT MID OHIO

Corona Extra Honda rider James Ellison put in a solid effort over the past weekend at rain plagued Mid Ohio, posting tenth and eleventh place finishes, up amongst the factory teams.

James qualified eleventh, a little lower than he had hoped but still nearly a second faster then his times at the track during testing. An electrical gremlin lost him some key time at the end of the qualifying session, preventing him from trying what would be the best tire for the session. His comment was; It would be worth half a second. This would have put him right in the middle of the factory group.

In race one, James lost a position at the start, twelfth after the first lap but quickly got his head down and moved up to ninth by lap eighteen, passing the factory Suzuki of Tommy Hayden. Hayden stayed with James however and just got back him at the line by half a bike length.

The second race day looked to be a repeat of the October 2006 event with heavy rain deluging the track. The race was finally started at 7.15 PM after a long day staring at the skies and keeping fingers crossed the weather would change! Riders had a fifteen minute practice session and then straight into the race. James held his starting position but took time getting up to speed. He said; The track was slippery and you had to be careful to stay on the line. I just did not get into the rhythm quick enough! James traded positions with the factory MVs eventually splitting them for eleventh. The weekend leaves Ellison tenth in the SuperBike championship series.

What: MotoCorsa Race Party -- MotoGP from Spain

When: Wednesday, June 13th -- 7pm

Where: MotoCorsa - 2170 NW Wilson St.

Stoner: I'm looking good. Rossi: Expect a great fight.

MotoGP World Championship leader Casey Stoner may have been pushed onto row two in qualifying, while nearest rival Valentino Rossi took pole, but the Ducati star fancies his chances for Sunday's Catalan Grand Prix.

Stoner ended the session a close fourth quickest, less than three tenths off pole, but his pace in race trim was extremely impressive after his crew modified his set-up to give him more grip during this morning's session, when they also selected Bridgestone tyres that offer brilliant performance at the technically demanding track.

"This morning we did pretty much full distance on race tyres with no real dramas," confirmed Casey, who will start tomorrow's race nine points clear of Rossi. "We're really happy but we haven't got enough quantity of that tyre, so we just threw on some other ones for this afternoon's session and we still managed to go pretty quick, quicker than everybody else on race tyres. We're happy enough with that and I think we're just going to leave the settings as they are for tomorrow, it's looking good.

"The tyres we've chosen, the hotter the weather the better they work, so this afternoon they probably would've worked better again," he warned. "This morning we definitely found a bit more grip, which is helping a lot in the long corners, we just balanced out the bike some more, so it's not too much on the front or too much on the rear. My qualifying runs were a little disappointing, I thought we could've done a little better but the way we've got the bike set up at the moment it works better with race tyres. Anyway, we're still not too far off and we're on the second row again."

The good news for Valentino Rossi is that he will start Sunday's Catalan Grand Prix from pole position - his fourth of the season - the bad news is that nobody has won a MotoGP race from pole for the past eight rounds, stretching back to the tail end of 2006.

But if anybody can break the mould it is Rossi, who has been expressing confidence in his Fiat Yamaha from the very first practice session this weekend - even if his qualifying advantage was a mere 0.061secs over Kawasaki's Randy de Puniet. The Italian is now aiming to smother Casey Stoner's nine-point world championship lead with his ninth victory at the Spanish circuit on Sunday, but expects a tough fight in tyre-melting temperatures.

"I'm really happy to have another pole position, this season our bike is working brilliantly with our Michelin qualifying tyres and at every race I have great fun during qualifying!" beamed Rossi. "Along with Mugello this is one of my favourite tracks and really I find it hard to decide which I like best! It's fun to have two great races together like this even if it's hard work without a rest in between.

"As usual it's going to be very important to start from the front tomorrow, but I think it's going to be a really hard battle anyway, especially in this heat," he warned. "Pedrosa and Stoner look very strong and also Hopkins has a good pace, so I think we can expect a great fight for the fans to watch! Anyway we're starting in the best position, my M1 feels very good and we will be looking for another victory."

"Valentino seems to be in good shape with his race pace as well but he needs to be very strong because it's going to be very competitive, with three or four riders looking very fast," confirmed team director Davide Brivio. "Let's see what happens but we're expecting an exciting race!"
